The real test of food for me is how well it reheats and @armilaslounge passed with flying colors. I took everything home and when I microwaved it later that night, it was just as flavorful and mouthwatering as when it was served fresh (I’m typing this while eating the food😆) I genuinely enjoyed everything I ordered. The Afghan Loaded Fries were a standout, something unique that I haven’t seen at a lot of other Afghan restaurants. They tasted even better with more sauce, and while I get that not everyone loves a heavy drizzle, I appreciated that you can order extra on the side. The mocktail leaned on the sweeter side. Personally, I prefer more bitter flavors, so it wasn’t my favorite, but that’s more of a taste preference than a fault. Now onto the star: the Mantu. I’m a very harsh critic when it comes to this dish. The only times I’ve truly loved it were when it was homemade or from one other restaurant but Armilas has officially made my list. Their version had a distinct flavor, perfectly balanced with sauce and yogurt, and it stood out with the way the meat inside was seasoned. The Kabuli Pulao was another highlight. Garnished with pistachios and other toppings, it looked vibrant and colorful. I’m not usually a raisin person, but the rice was cooked to such perfection that I didn’t even notice them, I genuinely enjoyed the entire plate. Beyond the food, the environment added so much to the experience. The lounge has a welcoming vibe where I felt safe even dining alone. As the night went on and more people came in for shisha, the atmosphere stayed comfortable. I’ve been to plenty of shisha lounges with friends and family where the crowd can feel uncomfortable -the kind of place where you notice eyes on you and just want to leave. But here, it was the opposite. Everyone was minding their own business, enjoying themselves, and nobody made me feel out of place. The energy was laid back, safe, and respectful something I truly value. That comfort and attention to detail really reflects the dedication of @Sabrinaxmakeup and her staff (who were the sweetest people). From the food to the service to the lighting, you can see her vision in every corner of the space. And I have to mention the massive TV in the lounge, perfect for a watch party, a big sports game, or even a UFC fight night. It adds a fun touch that makes the lounge versatile for all kinds of groups. What also stood out was the diverse crowd. Even though this is an Afghan restaurant, people from all cultures and backgrounds were there. Families, groups of friends, and solo diners like myself all felt comfortable, which shows how welcoming the space is. Overall, Armilas Lounge really impressed me. From the flavorful food to the inclusive vibe, it’s more than just a restaurant, it’s an experience.
