Do people not know mackinaw island is one of the top 3 places in the US for human trafficking? Not sure if that’s what this is about, but as a Michigander that place is disgusting. I’ve gone there for construction work too and the locals are the worst

I live year round on Mackinac Island. I’ve been here over 5 years and have never felt anything but absolute peace. It’s not for everyone because of the solitude in the winter and the crazy crowds in the summer, but I feel zero negative energy here.

The island was literally originally called michilimackinac meaning “Big Turtle” in Anishinaabe- the native people to the island. The legend goes the world was created on the back of this turtle. It really is such a sacred place to the tribes of Michigan. It should’ve never been turned into what it is tbh.
