@carinabombina: I love my local farmer’s market, I shop there almost every weekend, and that’s why I reported a vendor for selling raw milk and raw milk products. #foodsafety #patriotism #maha #speakup #accountability
My dad was born in 1931 and he's up on his grandfather's dairy farm. He was never allowed to drink unpasteurized milk. IN THE 30S, DURING THE DEPRESSION. That means something to me.

The reality of raw milk is there is no realistic way to actually keep fecal bacteria and fecal infection out of the milk

My husband's best friend owns a very large regional dairy farm. If you live in New England, you have seen his products in your grocery store. He does not allow his children or family to drink the raw milk.

oh it's amazing that people in this country got this far because there was a long time ago where everybody drank raw milk raw goat's milk. I grew up on a dairy and drank raw milk everyday. this goal to villainize drinking raw milk is getting out of hand.

I grew up by a very nice dairy farm and would help milk the cows as a kid in exchange for milk eggs produce etc for our family
the farmer should never let us drink straight from the cows and would only give us milk that had been processed
you definitely did the right thing

From someone who has managed large farmers markets for a long time (and is also immunocompromised) - don't feel bad, you did the right thing! My only other advice would be to alert the market's staff or board if you feel comfortable doing so, because it's possible they don't know that this is happening and may be able to take some action faster than the health dept.

Did you report to the organizer? If there were a lawsuit brought by someone, they can be named in the suit and potentially held liable. They might not care, but it would be potentially beneficial from a legal standpoint if someone experienced damages as a result of this milk vendor.

I wish it more accessible for people to know that pasteurization is just warming up the milk to kill bacteria it's no chemicals
