My in-laws said they wouldn’t take off work (we eloped on a Tuesday with more than a month notice) because we wouldn’t last 6 months. We just celebrated 25 years. I always post “and they said it wouldn’t last” every 5 years or so 😂

At my sister‘s wedding, one of her cousins came and brought her five kids which it was fine. Kids were all invited, but the only problem was after they finished eating they went back, filled up to go containers and left. They also did not bring a wedding present. They were basically there for the free food mind you the food was served right after the ceremony that lasted 10 minutes so they were there for tops one hour.

My mother in law was showed up to my 3:30 wedding at 3:30. Then was late to my reception. She had to run home in between and change her shoes. She showed up in her house slippers. My husband has been no contact with her and the rest of his family going on 6 years now ( for so many reasons)

My grandma was surly and rude our entire wedding. She was my mom’s mother and was angry that my father was there. My mom had died 5 years earlier and had a great friendship with my father (they were divorced). The one my mother didn’t have a great relationship with was my grandmother. They weren’t speaking for years before my mom’s death. But she had the nerve to be angry I “wasn’t honoring her memory enough.” Because I did a dance with my dad (we talked about my mom the entire dance).

We eloped. My mother told my 17 year old soon to be brother in law that I was making a mistake, I’ll regret it and he isn’t the one for me. Whole time giving dirty looks at my husband family.

my mum was late twice to my one wedding lol. we had a private ceremony, just us and our parents + photographer and celebrant and we almost started without her. Then she showed up late to the reception too, which was across the road from the ceremony.

My grandma told my mom on the morning of their wedding that my dad marrying her is the biggest mistake he’d ever make. They’ve been together 30+ years now. Grandma seemed to come around after they had me.

My MIL wore black because you know she was grieving. My husband’s entire family also made bets DURING the wedding on how long we would last and apparently 6 months was a common guess. We’ve been married for 20 years so I guess they all lost. There are so many more stories including them tearing the centerpiece apart and throwing things at me while calling me names during the send off.

my husbands grandmother came to our wedding in a white rhinestone dress(after saying I needed to wear a brown pantsuit) swapped out my bonus daughters dress for a Halloween costume and told his family not to come because we weren't getting married.

clear Nail polish (or any air dry nail polish) shrinks as it dries.....Wich basically means the Polish will pull on the skin and if there's hair somewhere on there it will tug on it or even rip it off

My in laws didn’t speak to me at my wedding because my BIL told them not to. When my hubs confronted them afterwards about it, they claimed they didn’t see me…I was the only one in white of 40 people and I was sat next to their son…

my MIL tried to get my 1st husband to leave before the wedding while I was getting ready. When we got pregnant 2 yrs in, she asked, "You aren't going to keep the pregnancy, are you?". We managed to stay married 12 years with 2 kids before I realized he was just like his parents. I've been married now for 32 years, he raised my kids and we added one more. life is so very good.

We told our caterer and venue coordinator my mom wanted to take the extra food. By the time she went back there to get the food, it had been packed up and taken. My mom was p.o. Also, it was hard to get the venue owner to put any changes in writing. My husband had provided the owner with free material for work for extra seats. The owner tried to charge us extra for the seats and my mom pushed back. Thankfully the owner caved.

my friends mom wore white to his wedding even though she had been told to wear any color but white. when he confronted her before the ceremony she said it was all she had in her closet and it wasn't a big deal. his step-dad when greeted by the bride as she was getting ready said "I see why hes marrying you...youre pregnant". and then after the ceremony step dad took himaside and asked for a word. my friend thought he was finally going to apologize for being abusive his whole life and that he was proud of him...nope...he told him he had just made the worst mistake of his life....my friend met mom and step-dad in parking lot a bit later and uninvited them to the reception.....mom started crying and step dad told him he wished he would have died when he was on deployment. my friend and his wife have been married 16 years and are no contact with his parents

It amazes me that people don't know that white, black and red are NO-NO colors to wear to anyone else's wedding. White is obvious, black is you don't want them getting married and red is you are currently or have slept with the groom.

Speaking of night of Bach parties- my BIL was the one in charge of my partner’s Bach party per his request (he is my partners sisters husband. Him and SIL are both quite a bit older than partner so BIL took them under his wing in some ways) but he decided to do the party the night before the wedding. I was pissed as I think that’s dumb af & had mine 2 weeks prior. I told my partner that if they were drunk when I walked down the aisle I was turning around. The group was maybe 2 dudes and a bunch of lesbians (we are a queer couple) they did paint ball then went to the strip club which is fine by me. Thankfully my partner did not get drunk however, there was a lot that did happen that night including punches thrown, multiple of our wedding party got black out-including one of our friends who was assaulted by some random girl none of us have seen before or since which in turn caused her bf of a decade to break up with her (he was looking for an out but if I ever see him it’s on sight for that) & while I feel for her deeply, she then proceeded to be passed out in the room I was supposed to be getting ready in up until the wedding and somehow I as the bride ended up getting ready in a weird awkward corner area. To say I was not happy to be proven right about the night of Bach party being a stupid idea is an understatement. I’m just so thankful my amazing spouse behaved because I worry that with everything else that happened, if they had also got drunk & went nuts it would have been enough for me to catch a charge & I’m not normally a violent person but I would have been.
