It happened to me a single dad of two kids their whole life and now they are in other parts of the world and I’m alone in this quiet, three bedroom apartment and every day I walk by there rooms and can’t help but to peak my head in and tell them, I love them like I did every day with their life

Mine’s just shy of her seventeenth birthday, and I’m trying so hard to cherish every moment before she packs up and takes off. My wife passed years ago, too, so I’ll be completely alone. I’m scared to rediscover who I am without parenting.

before you all get in a bundle of tears.... I honestly talk to my adult children more than we converse when they were growing up. life/ school/ activities kept them busy&talking to mom&dad isn't cool in h s. But, as adults, they call me all the time. it can be really really cool having adult kids

my 14 year old son cleaned out his bookshelf yesterday and brought all his old books from his childhood down...The Velveteen Rabbit sat there, our page still marked halfway through the book. I busted out crying because one day I read to him before bed, I marked the page so we could pick up where we left off next time, and there was no next time 😭

It’s the fingerprints on the windows that makes me sad. I used to hate them. My grandson left one on the front door and I cleaned around it for a year. It was my pride and joy.

I hate having an empty nest. So glad my kids are living their lives- that’s what they’re supposed to do. But I miss the everyday noise and chaos. I miss seeing them everyday. The days are long but the years are short.

This hits kinda hard, daughter moved out last year and we are kid free now. Time goes by so fast and you don't even realize it. Seems like yesterday when we were at Disney World with our son and daughter living life, that was 16 years ago. Both are gone now, Son has a 2 qnd 4 yo so we are grandparents, I'm over 50, and just retired so don't even work anymore. Wish I could go back in time but I can't so now it's all about making memories while we can. Don't wish away your days, once they pass they are gone forever. Even bad days are good days
