Summertime fades black hair with the sun, ocean water, chlorine especially, washing your hair more frequently, I would try a permanent blue black and get a black color depositing conditioner

your hair doesn’t fully “hold” black dye because your natural hair is dark brown so the dye just coats it and fades over time from washing, sun, and heatmaking the brown show through again

Hey Tara you are right! the permanent hair dye actually does something weird to your hair molecules and coats them instead of actually dying because they are so used to the permanent die what is helpful is to use semi permanent diet for awhile until your hair basically breaks its tolerance that's why your colour washes out within two weeks ❤️❤️
