I did this on my ac unit this summer. Now my neighbors are asking how i did it coz there ac guys are asking $250-$350 for washing. I cannot belive it that its that expensive to clean by the service guys

You can buy that at Home Depot and you spray it on the outside. Don’t open it up like he did. You don’t have to do that. You just spray it all over all the way around your unit. Leave it on for 30 minutes and get your water hose and wash it off. You don’t have to take the top off. You don’t have to do it from the inside.

Its amazing how people dont know this. Same ones i bet, never change the filter on the indoor unit and wonder why it wont cool/heat properly.

PSA dont use a pressure washer you will bend the heat fins and will spend all day combing them back straight

I tried to tell my grandparents this and they told me that has nothing to do with why it’s running hard so i said 🤷♀️and walked away. It wasnt until they paid their ac guy to come out and charge them to do this when i wouldve done it for free. And quote them 1500 to clean the coils.

My ac is over 25 yrs old, isn’t big enough for our sq footage .. I’ve owned the house for 5 years and I’m absolutely terrified to touch it.. it works great though.. for now 😅

looks good until you cant get panels back on correctly and bend the fins in process. speaking from personal experience. Definitely not a pro so maybe that was the problem.

I would be careful with that cleaner because I can see it already stripped off some of the condenser coating they put on it from factory. That stuff helps with preventing corrosion

is there a way to clean it without taking it apart? my apartment ac isnt keeping up in the 80s it was 77 degrees in my apt when it was only 86 outside and the one labeled with our apt number outside is filthy. Took battling with maintenance for weeks before they even admitted the freon was low and filled it earlier this summer when it was strugling when it was in the 70s outside. Hoping I can take care of it my self im exhausted from maintenance constantly attempting to gaslight us nothings wrong with our unit's appliance and dragging out repairing its for weeks/months.
