Many Jamaicans feel priced out of their own communities and even struggle to access parts of their own coastline. So why are we taking on another country's immigration responsibility when we have so many issues that still need addressing at home? This isn't about lacking compassion. It's about priorities. If our own people are still waiting for support, housing and investment, shouldn't they come first? Prime Minister Anju says this is a temporary, limited arrangement funded by the U.S. But many Jamaicans are asking the same questions: Where will these people stay? How long will they be here? And what happens if "temporary" becomes something else? Jamaicans deserve clear answers, transparency and confidence that the country's resources and attention remain focused on the people who call this island home.
