This won’t happen, but the best thing US team could do now is to bench Balogun. Show that they think this is bollocks as well and they’ll gain an enormous amount of respect globally. If they went on to win it, you’d see a lot more people backing them. Keep sports and politics separate.

Was it a bullshit red. Absolutely. Should they have suspended it. Absolutely not. If they aren’t going to take it away completely or at least downgrade it to a yellow (and review all other reds) they shouldn’t do it.

The ref didn’t make a mistake though. It was rightly a red card and still is just bizarrely suspended for a year. Will England be asking for Quansahs red to be suspended for a year even though he was rightly sent off
