@chinaharrisss: I wanted to give everyone another update because so many of you have continued checking in on my children and me. First, thank you. Because of the incredible kindness of people on here, we're no longer sleeping in our car. We were able to get into a weekly motel, and I can't even describe the relief of knowing my babies have a safe place to sleep, shower, and rest each night. It's still painful knowing we're even in this position... but it helps a lot knowing that we have a safe place to sleep in this horrible heat... The support we've received has gone directly toward keeping us here, putting food on the table every day, paying for gas so I can get to interviews and do Uber deliveries when childcare is available, and helping cover childcare while I continue searching for work and looking into resources. Our weekly motel costs $335 every week, so while I'm beyond grateful to have a roof over our heads, it's still a significant expense that we're working hard to keep up with while I search for stable employment. I've attended several interviews this week and have followed up with employers as requested. So far, I've mostly been told they're still interviewing other candidates or to continue waiting. I know finding the right job can take time, but l'll admit it's been discouraging. Even so, I'm going to keep applying, interviewing, and doing everything I can to get us back on our feet. I’ve also been reaching out to organizations for motel assistance. Unfortunately, the places I’ve contacted have either told me they’re out of funding or that they don’t offer motel vouchers, so for now we’re planning as though we’ll be responsible for covering the motel ourselves until something changes.
