this is smart! we split nights. I got to sleep 7-1, he got to sleep 1-7 before work.

I’ll recommend a step further. When they become toddlers and wake up at the butt crack of dawn. Take turns which weekend day to sleep in. On call parent has to immediately take kids to living room/kitchen make breakfast and play peacefully. Do not let them run back into room for sleeping parents. And really let that parent rest. Made a huge difference for us

my husband and i did shifts. he did 8-12am, baby was consistently sleeping between 12-2am from birth, and i’d do 2-6am. we were consistently getting at least 5 hours straight minimum and it was a life changer.

4 years later and we still do this - our daughter knows the routine too - One of us puts her to bed and she knows to wake up the other if she needs anything in the night.

yes!! we did 6 hour stretches on and off. I was still pumping and breastfeeding for part of that but it was a game changer to get a solid stretch of sleep

My husband and I do this and it's amazing! When he was a newborn one of us would sleep from 10-4 then wake the other to do 4-10 and we'd alternate that. As he got older we swapped to the just every other night!

We did that I would pump a few times a day after nursing to make the midnight bottle. Go to sleep at 9:00 after nursing and he would do that bottle

This! My husband and I both did 12 hour shifts so that we both were able to get our 8 hours uninterrupted and got some alone time. It made the newborn phase a breeze!

We do that also, I can’t think of any other way to do it that works better. When he was days old we did night shift day shift. That was exhausting.

My husband and I did shifts during the newborn phase while he was on paternity leave. I did 6am to 3pm. We did 3pm to 9pm together. He took over 9pm to 6am.

I exclusively pumped so every time I pumped my wife would feed our baby so no one felt resentment and it was honestly so nice. We had some of the best talks during those times. I only SLIGHTLY miss it lol both exhausted but we had 12 weeks off so we slept when he slept. I like your method too!

Love it! My husband and I did before 4am and after 4am. Our kids woke up around 2am, 5am, and then 8am. I always got to sleep at least 2-8 and my husband got to sleep like 10-5 uninterrupted (plus any falling asleep before/after) and we were always rested and it was so great

We do split nights and I exclusively breastfeed. My husband also works and doesn’t take off when the baby is born. I go to bed at 8pm and sleep until 1 am. He does 1 am till 6 am, he brings the baby to me when he needs to eat, I flop a tit out and text him when he’s done. He comes gets the baby and changes and rocks him while I go back to sleep. We might try this method this go around, I’m due in October with our third! Great job mama! 🥰
