One thing I’ve learned being on both sides of the creator industry, as a creator AND someone who works on the brand side is that more brand deals doesn’t always mean more success. A lot of creators burn themselves out trying to work with as many brands as possible, but think about the reality of that… Every month you’re learning 10 new products, 10 different audiences, 10 different brand voices, and trying to figure out what content will actually perform. That’s exhausting. The creators brands rehire or put on retainers are the ones who become experts on the brand they work with. They understand the product, know the customer, and can consistently create content that gets results. You cannot do this with a roster of brands you’re making content for. Also maintaining long term partnerships by working with a few brands allows you to make a sustainable income without burning yourself out too fast. Stick with just a few brands and be the creator they don’t want to replace. This will also allow you to eventually negotiate for even more and could also lead to greater opportunities with the brand.
