Terraced into the Zagros foothills above the turquoise waters of Duhok Dam, this villa complex reads less like an object placed on the slope than an extension of it. Coursed local stone retaining walls hold the terrain in place, one level at a time; native grass roofs settle flush with the surrounding steppe, so that from above the buildings nearly vanish back into the land they grow from. Nothing here competes with the mountains — the architecture simply steps down to meet the water. Then the water takes over. Three glass-edge infinity pools cantilever straight off the hillside on slender board-formed concrete supports, nothing beneath them but sky and reservoir — a swim here becomes an act of floating above the lake itself. Olive groves terrace the ground between each pavilion, framing quiet lawns, shaded loungers, and long, low-slung living volumes that open fully toward the view rather than shutting it out. It reads as a study in restraint: warm, weathered materials, a single unbroken datum line running along the ridge, and a horizon that never leaves the frame — whether standing at the pool's glass edge or looking back at the complex from the far shore.
