well, this is one side of the coin as well. being single does not guarantee comfort as well. Also there are people who would have been alive today if they got married or had a companion. there are also people who are happy in their marriages and who by being married has increased the quality of their life. Nothing is set on stone. I think people should do what they think works for them. In life nothing is guaranteed. Every thing is a risk. Even waking up every morning is risky.

this is an unpopular opinion but realist knows that this is factual. marriage and children are huge responsibility that lingers till old age with lots of burden that last a life time. marriage should be for people who are ready for the consequences. marriage, children aren't achievement. doing it is a perpetual taste on capacity to carry responsibility. it's not meant for everyone, knowing Ur purpose in life helps to know were to pinch Ur tent in this context.
