This is called the Seeding, and the name of the movie basically explains the plot. Basically the dude is lured there by a cult who essentially trick people into climbing down the ladder and they can't escape. The girl is a captive too and essentially what happens is the cult will lower rations (or don't, to break spirits) and fuck with them. At the end the girl gets pregnant and the cult takes her and the baby out and leave the dude. And then he will wait for the cult to trick a girl to go down there and the cycle continues.
