36. Married. no kids. No car payment. Student loans paid off. 6 rental properties. Dream lake house will be paid off by the end of next year. On track to retire at 45. NEVER at any time have I thought “you know what would make my life better? Kids!” 😂

glad to hear that she managed to raise her daughters in a way they don't see parenthood negatively and became a happy mum.

I disagree with the phrasing that people “don’t know what they’re consenting to.” You can consent to actions; you can’t consent to outcomes. You can consent to becoming a parent, but you can’t consent to the countless unknown outcomes that come with it. You can’t know in advance how parenthood will affect your body, career, finances, relationships, mental health, or what kind of needs your child may have. That’s the part people can’t fully anticipate. That’s also why it’s so important for young people to listen to stories like these before making the decision. That’s why it’s so important. Not to go into parenthood unprepared. Parenthood could end up being deeply fulfilling, like it was for her daughter, or it could bring a lifetime of regret, like it did for her. The more perspectives people hear beforehand, the more informed their decision can be.

I'm experiencing this, but in a different perspective. I know my mother loathes motherhood, she loves us kids, but you sort of sense her longing for individuality. Being a mother is a hard and lifelong task, and is obviously not for everyone. I respect when a woman can recognize that it's not for them♡(even if it's a bit too late lol).

It totally makes sense, my heart goes out to her. She was so unhappy and still courageously did her best to continue. Thank you for sharing

I always wanted to have children. Also had two daughters, ended up raising them alone. It was so hard, but I looked forward to them having good lives and us continuing to be close. Now at 63, with one 31 year old daughter who struggles daily and is suffering, and a 33 year old who barely communicates with me, I wonder what the point was of devoting most of my life to raising them. Honestly it wasn’t worth it. And yes, I do love my children. And actually liked being a mother.

I’m a mom to 6 youngish adults and I am not a grandmother. Everyone around us is becoming grandparents or have been grandparents for awhile. But all of my children have explained that they are not interested in having children of their own.

I'm not a mom, but everyone tells me I'd make a great one when they watch me with my nieces & nephews. I've accepted that I can't have them, but the other thing is I simply don't kids of my own. Motherhood isn't for me

My heart goes out to the kids! They definitely felt this. I’m thankful that I love being a mum, it’s hard work and it’s constant sacrifice especially without a village. It’s sad listening to this

I think my mom was the other way around. She liked being a mom but hated her kids. They didn’t turn out how she wanted them to.

Not a mother but a child of a mom which I think had nothing but regrets . She never expected grand children from me never once actually asked me for one not even once talked about it BUT she told me hundreds of times that I do not need kids . So here we are 39 years later child free …. She had 3 kids and 2 of us will remain child free .

you know she sounds like she did a good job. I wish she could have had the life she really wanted but it sounds like she did her best and did well. that's admirable and it's cool of her to want to warn others

I'm 36, at 19 I had to quit college to take care of my little sister's baby so she could graduate high-school. I also took care of a wealthy family's children for money as a nanny to help support my family. I ran off 2 hours of sleep a night for almost a year and was the primary care giver for my nephew till he was five. my name was his first word. when you are a baby's whole world there sometimes isn't room for anything else. my sister called me 2 months after her second baby was born and apologized for not helping more with my nephew. she hadn't really taken what I went through seriously until she lived it herself.

It is the first time I hear someone feel what I’ve felt all my life even after my son and constantly having to tell people I never wanted and don’t want another child,I don’t love being a mom but I love my son to death..thank you for creating this Chanel maybe people will start acknowledging how different we are and it’s okay not to want what society decides is normal

Mientras son mas grandes es peor 😣 aun asi, amo a mis hijos, el consejo es es que este sentimiento no va a mejorar, pero como los duelos: aprendes a vivir con eso.
