My lola passed away while giving birth to my mom. I’ve always wondered how my mom became such a great mother even though she never got to grow up with her own mom. It’s like she always knew how to love and take care of us. I asked her about it once, and she told me that everyone always said her mom was kind and had a good heart. So she chose to live her life the way she believed her mom would have if she were still here. She is someone’s baby ☹️

This is one of my bucket list talaga. Gusto kong kausapin ng masinsinan ang parents ko if how were they able to live life knowing they don’t have their parents anymore. And how do they want us to live once sila naman ang mamamaalam sa amin. I think that conversation would be deep and healing too.

Kaya kahit paulit-ulit ang mga kwento ni Mama about her childhood, her parents, and her siblings—I just listen as if it is the first time I hear those stories. I love hearing things from her point of view because she looks at the world and everyone in heart-shaped lenses.

I always asked my parents about it, and ang saya lang kasi lagi nila sinasabi na ang saya nila dati kahit yung pagkain nila kamote or saging, everytime mag kakape kami, yan lagi naming kwentuhan yung mga nakaraan nila na buhay. Kaya nung sinabi ni mama na gusto niya umuwi kung saan sya lumaki, binigay namin kasi andun ang mga alaala nung bata at kumpleto pa silang lahat.
