I still remember the day my first airline uniform arrived. Putting it on for the first time as a First Officer on the Boeing 737 felt surreal. It wasn’t just a uniform, it represented years of hard work, sacrifice, setbacks, and believing in a dream that so many people told me was unrealistic. I was told I was too ambitious. That becoming an airline pilot wasn’t a realistic goal. That I should lower my expectations. I didn’t. Since that moment, I’ve been fortunate enough to fly the Boeing 787, become an instructor, and continue working towards goals I once only dreamed of. Every milestone has reminded me why I never gave up. This career has given me opportunities I could never have imagined. I’ve met incredible pilots, cabin crew, dispatchers, engineers, ground staff, and so many passionate people along the way. No matter our role, we all share the same love for aviation. One question I get asked all the time is: “I’d love to become a pilot… but I don’t think I’m capable.” Or… “I don’t even know where to start.” If that’s you, I want you to know something. You are far more capable than you think. Becoming a pilot isn’t about being the smartest person in the room. It’s about persistence, discipline, resilience, and continuing to move forward one step at a time, even when people tell you that you can’t. Everyone starts somewhere.
