Kadim Al Sahir is one of the most prominent singers in the Arab world. He was born in Mosul in 1957 and is nicknamed "The Caesar of Arabic Song" for his distinctive artistic presence, powerful voice, and refined style in composing and singing. Kadim Al Sahir's story began in humble circumstances. He grew up in a poor family and had to work at a young age to help support them, taking on various jobs before discovering his passion for music. He enrolled in the Institute of Musical Studies in Baghdad, where he studied music academically and began composing his own songs, a skill that distinguished him from many other artists. He rose to fame in the late 1980s with the song "Abart Al Shat" (I Crossed the River), but his true fame expanded with his works that combined classical Arabic poetry with modern singing, especially when he sang the poems of Nizar Qabbani. He presented timeless works such as "Zidini Ishqan" (Increase My Love) and "Madrasat Al Hob" (The School of Love), making him a symbol of refined romanticism His personal life wasn't easy. He married young, but the marriage didn't last long, and he separated from his wife despite having children. He also went through difficult experiences during the wars in Iraq, which later led him to live abroad and continue his artistic career from overseas. Kadhim Al-Saher is distinguished by being not just a singer, but also a composer and sometimes a poet. He wrote and composed many of his own songs, and succeeded in blending classical Eastern music with a modern style, which allowed him to maintain his status across generations.
