honestly, if they're just starting out, I would probably recommend the beaded kind (like the elementary school kind) as it has that certain heft to it, rolls nicely on the ground and hurts less 😅 otherwise, the speed ropes are PVC coated wire which tend to break up on sidewalks, ect. and can get pretty pricey ($150+) depending on length and handle choices..however, if you're stuck on the OG wire one maybe try a dog run wire as a cheaper alternative but can't comment on weight or flexibility
