I'm an estranged mom. I do follow some of those creators, but I also watch vids like yours. It is helping me to learn where I may have gone wrong. My kids never suggested their dad and I do therapy or read or anything else tho. I'm just sad families are pulling apart. I would do anything for my kids & am getting a lot of help.

Me :
It’s only now that I’ve gone no contact that my mother decided to go to therapy so I will talk to her again, after I begged her for years to seek help. It’s not how she treated me as a child that caused me to go nc, it’s how she treated me as an adult

I am no contact with my parents and some of my children are no contact with me. I am the pattern, not the problem. I fully recognize everyone who has chosen to be in their own corners. Needs to be there. Including myself. This keeps peace for everyone. Some of us still have work to do. I am patiently waiting.

If you’re an estranged parent either by a child choosing no contact or by parental alienation, the only sane, responsible thing to do is work on improving yourself. If/when your child reaches out, be ready to do the work to rebuild.

Thank you! Best advice for estranged parents! Learned to be uncomfortable and confront the skeletons in your closet. I want relationship and I’m willing to be wrong about the things I’ve done. Accountability all the way!

This was greatly needed. Family estrangement is not new. It is not a “trend”. Therapist did not cause this. Parents need to take accountability just like anybody else.

I PLEADED to my mom to get therapy after my dad died and she told me she "would never be so self indungent as to go to therapy" 💔

If you're talking about Candi I highly doubt she was ever a Social Worker. Especially not in child welfare services. Three of her previous husbands are registered s*x offenders. There's no way they would miss that in the background investigation.

This is so true... it isn't about my childhood at all because I can't remember my childhood... I don't speak to certain people because of the way they treated me the last time I did speak to them.

I do t have the energy to play the blame game and worry about others feelings. I’ll just move on. Plenty of peeps to share my time energy and love with who like me as I am.

Content that blames only one side is not helping anyone and continues the division!
Every story is different but most won't even consider that the adult child might be the toxic one, most just blame the parents! This happens because most parents unconditionally love their children and while the parents are hurt, they would never socially/publicly ruin their adult child but telling the full story.
Fact - There are parents that refuse to take accountability AND there are adult children that refuse to take accountability!
Any creator pushing one side is doing harm to ALL!

What about parental alienation? There’s so much content about estrangement that reinforces alienation. I accept my part in all that happened. I have no way to communicate that. And I have no way to find out what the real issue is (“you should know”).

My daughter is estranged I've come across tons of these videos because I'm trying to learn how to navigate being estranged from her. I totally agree they want to put everything on the child. Personally I'm trying to listen to the children who have gone no contact to learn what would have maybe helped them before they went no contact, hoping that I can do the right thing for my situation, for my daughter.

From what I remember of the history you’ve shared, your parents showed up for school, dance, and many of the things parents are supposed to show up for, but you felt they didn’t attune to you in the way you needed.
Your experience of that matters. But so does everything else they did.
I’m sure many basically good parents have already apologized, questioned themselves, tried to understand, and done their best to repair. When none of that counts, I really do wonder what happened.
Melanie Klein called maturity the ability to hold the good and bad in the same person. Winnicott called it “good enough” parenting. Accountability cannot require splitting a parent into all bad and the adult child into all injured.
