I believe both have there place. but in high load situations I still pre-twist and put on a good old wire nut. (and yes, I know a wago is rated for 32 amps.)

Just answer this question when you splice the wire and then put a wire nut on it those wires are twisted together when you use a wacko connector the wires never touch. It’s just like backstabbing a receptacle you be the judge.

Wagos are trash for higher current connections, but good for low amps. They do not clamp well, where as a Wirenut compresses the connection.

Wagos got a bad name because of all the cheap knockoffs out there. I use 221s all the time in controls, especially if temporarily fitted components or checking function

In the marine industry, why are nuts are not approved to use because of the vibration wagos are a great substitution because they are a compression connecter and clamp down on your wire also in the marine industry solid wire is prohibited

In old work, Wago's come in handy when the wire is short. Although new construction, or full remodel, I will use wire nuts. Like he said it depends on the situation.

I replaced all the receptacles in my kids rooms and found that wagos and the marrette equivalent (way more affordable btw) very user friendly and I'll definitely use them again

I do not like them. They are spring loaded, which means that you are reliant on the spring overtime. It’s no different than using the stab locks on the receptacles. Sooner or later they will give. One of the manufacturers of the receptacles has actually stated in the past that they are not rated for wire use.

Just changed out wagos in office lighting. Prev electrician replaced ballasts. And some flickered erratically after some time. He was called back 3x. I was there and in 2.5hrs replaced with wire nuts. Zero flicker Job done. Wagos suck!!!

I like Wegos, but still a touch hesitant about if they can truly handle the amperage because the physical connection is still just a thin piece of metal. I don't mind being proven wrong, im just wondering what if I'm right on the weakness.

I was at a data centre where they specced only Wagos. There was quite a a few failures in first few weeks. They were fairly easy to find as you could they were burnt black inside.

If you cause a short circuit down the line.. Look what happens to the first splice after the electrical panel..
It'll go black and fail..
