i think the knight being a cutscene merchant is gonna be something diagetic where it is aware of the cutscene mechanic and abuses it to win any fight which takes away the fraud aspect and makes it js a smart knowledgeable meta enemy like sans attacking us in the menu

I personally think that the doors aren't "canon", as in, they're there just to make backtracking easier and can't actually be used in any important lore way. The fact that they're not mentioned ONCE by ANYBODY, including berdly, who LITERALLY talks about doors and shortcuts, kinda supports this point, it's similar to saving in deltarune and the fact that there's 3 save slots, important gameplay-wise, but unimportant lore-wise (for now)
