The Florida panther was hunted to near extinction because the government on behalf of the livestock industry, especially cattle ranchers, placed a $5 bounty on them in the 1800's to encourage hunters to exterminate them because they prey on livestock. Today, ceaseless millions of wild animals across the globe continue to be exterminated because they either compete with livestock for grazing land and water resources (like wild American horses here in the US, kangaroos in Australia, and elephants in Zimbabwe), or because they prey on livestock (like wolves, bears, and big cats) or because they eat the feed that's put out for and stored for livestock (like birds, rats, and squirrels), or because they eat the eggs laid by livestock (like skunks and racoons), or because they can spread diseases to livestock (like badgers in the UK), or because they eat the fish the fishermen want to catch and sell as "seafood," (like dolphins whales, sea lions, seals, and sharks). We are in the midst of the 6th mass extinction, and animal agriculture is the main cause. Go vegan and refrain from supporting it.
