I work as a massage therapist. almost everyone is happy with their knee and hip surgeries. almost no one is happy with their back and neck surgeries. I have heard so many horror stories from clients about how not only it didn't help but they are worse. i had only 1 or 2 clients who told me it helped. they still have pain but its less or it just moved somewhere else.

right there with you, grateful for the surgery but damn i just want a normal back and no pain. I had my fusion 15 years ago and still suffer with numbness in my upper back and no amount of PT has helped :(

the feeling does get better and even go away with time! I had a fusion in 2010 and I cant feel it at all now

To ANYONE seeing this, the chances of your spinal fusion failing are very low. Im 19 and got the surgery 1,5 yrs ago, it was the BEST thing for my health and quality of life. Some days are hard, but nothing compares to the pain I used to feel and how disgusted I was with myself ( hated how i looked). Ask your doctor every question possible before getting surgery and make wise decisions!!!!

I’m going to be 8 years post-op in November, and I can tell you that it gets so much better. I was living with an almost 100° curve and a crushed stomach and lung. It’s an adjustment to the new normal but that will go away and you will feel so much better. Best of luck with recovery.
