I had a pulmonology resident who was seeing me along with her attending on a weekly basis because of a major issue I was having.. I got to know her and she was interviewing for fellowship jobs and asked me about different places in the country because she was from overseas she didn't know the difference between Kentucky and New Orleans versus Los Angeles and New York... and I asked her how important the rest of her life was to her job as Kentucky is a completely different lifestyle than New Orleans versus Los Angeles lol

I’m one year ahead of you and the best advice I got was most people change jobs and don’t stay at their first job so keep your options open esp with non compete clauses!

I absolutely loved getting to interview but yes such long days! Also interviews are a great way to network and stay in touch with others! I still keep up with other physicians where I didn’t accept the job! The physician world is so small and it’s good to establish good relationships everywhere ❤️

Use to be a recruiter, we would do 2 day interviews. Especially if you were covering multiple hospitals.

PGY 19- i’ve paid a lot of contract attorneys.. retain one. Fun thing.. put all your contracts/ pay structures into some sort of AI platform just see what you get back. It’s not my first go thru but i find now sometimes it might catch a little thing

Damn my first attending job was me emailing the medical director, he asked “how many shifts you want?”, I said 12” he messaged back with someone CC’d saying “write him up a contract for 12 shifts, 2 year sign on bonus, moving stipend” 😂 no interview.
