Since the Fourth of July, our favorite song has never sounded the same. Every note carries a memory I never asked to keep, every lyric echoes through the quiet corners of my room. Yet life has found a strange rhythm. It is just me, my PC, and an endless collection of movies. Night after night, I disappear into stories that do not belong to me, watching strangers fall in love, lose each other, fight impossible battles, and somehow find hope again. For a few hours, I borrow their lives to escape my own. People often mistake solitude for sadness, but they are not always the same. I have learned to appreciate these silent evenings. The glow of the screen replaces the noise of the world, and every film reminds me that every heart carries its own scars. Some endings are joyful, others are heartbreaking, but every story eventually reaches its final scene. Mine is still being written. There are moments, though, when a familiar melody slips into the soundtrack of a movie, and suddenly I am no longer watching the screen. I am back in the memories we once created together. I remember how your laughter blended with that song, how I believed we would always have another summer, another conversation, another chance to make memories that would last forever. I never imagined that the person I trusted the most would become the reason I had to teach myself how to heal. Missing you is complicated. I do not miss the betrayal. I do not miss the lies or the feeling of discovering that my love was not enough to keep your heart honest. What I miss is the version of you that existed before everything fell apart—the one I believed in, the one I defended, the one I imagined standing beside me years from now. Perhaps that person never truly existed, or perhaps love simply made me blind to the truth. Still, I refuse to let bitterness become my entire personality. Every movie I finish reminds me that pain is only one chapter, not the whole story. Some characters are abandoned. Some are betrayed. Some lose everything before they discover who they really are. Maybe that is why I keep watching. Not because I expect fiction to fix reality, but because every ending whispers the same quiet promise: life continues. So I make some coffee, dim the lights, put on another film, and let the hours pass. Sometimes I smile. Sometimes I laugh out loud. Sometimes a single scene is enough to bring tears I thought I had already cried. I no longer fight those emotions. They come, they stay for a while, and they leave, just like every movie eventually fades to black. Maybe one day our favorite song will simply be another song. Maybe your name will become just another memory instead of a wound. Until then, I will keep finding comfort in stories, collecting unforgettable scenes instead of unforgettable regrets. It is still just me, my PC, and countless movies—but little by little, that is becoming enough. And perhaps that is the quiet beginning of finally choosing myself over the ghost of someone who chose to leave. #ifeelyou #fyp #movie #fourthofjuly #happy
