Russia is just as evil as any European colonial nation, but westerners love to praise Russia because slavic culture feels exotic to them. They treat Russia same way they treated Japan 10 years ago, only looking at the interesting parts ignoring the horrors and terror they cause. And the "interesting parts" are not even theirs, just as with Japan who stole 70% of their culture from China, Russia also stole most of its culture from Ukraine, France, Kazakhs, Caucasians (the region), etc.
