@drjeffkimball.ortho_: 👉 Many people with significant joint hypermobility don’t realize their flexibility is unusual because they’ve been able to do it their entire lives. 👀 This patient demonstrates marked hypermobility, including dramatic hyperextension of the finger joints and the ability to flex the thumb all the way to the forearm. For some people, hypermobility never causes problems. For others, it may contribute to joint pain, instability, tendon issues, or recurrent sprains and dislocations. In some cases, generalized joint hypermobility may also be associated with inherited connective tissue disorders, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, although many people with hypermobility do not have Ehlers-Danlos. If you’ve always been told you’re “double-jointed,” it may be worth discussing with your healthcare provider—especially if you’re having symptoms. 👇 Can you do this with your fingers? #orthopedics #hypermobility #physicalexam #jointhealth #beightonscore This information is provided for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice.
