I’ve never expected people to do things for me when I give to them. However, my love and energy is an investment. If I do not get a return on my investment at some point, if I’m the only one giving and not receiving, I will pull all my love and energy and go elsewhere. I’m done. I gave you chances and you disappointed and I’m out.

How can you not take it personally when you send a friend flowers for their birthday and they don’t send you anything? You will fight to pay the bill at dinner because you want it to be your treat, but they won’t even offer to pay $5 for your Starbucks on your coffee date? Maybe the problem is not with our love, but with who we give it to. Also culture is a big thing. Make sure you’re friends with people who have the same values as you.

July 6th cancer here. I have never felt so understood 🥲🥹 I notice these things within myself, jotting down these big emotions has helped me when I was drowning in my own waves. I go back and read my entries and in like “damn dramatic af” 😂

This was so good and nuanced. I see so many people who go “Oh Cancers are so vengeful and hold a grudge,” but you really went into what’s behind that. Also, Sometimes I struggle with the memory issue by remembering the good things about a person/relationship and that keeps me in relationships that I’ve probably outgrown, so I think that’s another side of the nostalgia trap. I feel guilt bc of how good things have been in the past.

I truly feel like I avoid friendships bc of this reason. I don't like that I get like that but I am also realizing I want to be more than just a family person but a friend to. So im working on it.. lol

I don’t intentionally keep “score” but I do make note of how things aren’t reciprocated or how someone mistreats me because of previous relationships and friendships. I’m not willing to put more investment (on MY end) if I see energy shifting or true colors coming out. Birthdays are also the worst as a cancer. We just want to be acknowledged the way we do for others. Spot on!
