As a huge baseball fan, the “that’s the way it’s always been” or “ that’s the way it is”is not always agood argument. There are moments that that is the only argument needed, but this isn’t one of them. And while it’s a form of precedent, it isn’t the first instance of this for fifa, so it isn’t unprecedented

Injustice?! For dangerous play you get a red card. This action could have ended his opponent's career. You can disagree, red cards are often up for discussion. But to speak of injustice is a bit short-sighted.

It was a bad red card but the injustice is overturning the penalty. Bad calls happen but this is pretty bad corruption. A shame because the US had such a wonderful tournament and now it’s tainted by this

The people who think that was a red have never played football in their life. When you play football you don't notice where you plant your foot 99% of the time so how can it be a red card for something that is a natural movement??

Look, is it a mistake the way it was done? Yes. But this may be a good thing in the long run. We complain about the state of reffing and VAR mistakes constantly, right? Teams should have a chance to have bad decisions overturned and maybe this is what does it.
