Meet NEXi – my AI desktop companion 🤖✨ NEXi is a custom-built AI desktop robot designed to be an interactive companion for your desk. Instead of driving around, NEXi stays in one place and focuses on natural communication, expressive movements, and intelligent AI interactions. The robot features a realistic head movement system powered by two servo motors in the neck, allowing it to smoothly look around, turn toward people, and react naturally during conversations. Combined with its animated OLED face, NEXi can display different emotions and expressions, making every interaction feel more lifelike. Using its camera and built-in AI, NEXi can observe its surroundings, recognize people and objects, understand voice commands, remember conversations, and respond intelligently. The goal is to create a desktop AI assistant that feels alive rather than just another electronic device. Everything—from the electronics and software to the custom 3D-printed body—has been designed and programmed from scratch. The robot combines AI, computer vision, embedded systems, and robotics into one compact desktop companion. I'm continuously adding new features and improving both the hardware and software.
