@daniellalately: Tomato people, help 😭🍅 These things are taller than me, hitting the ceiling, and now literally bending over because they have nowhere else to go 😂 I still can’t believe I grew all of this on a third-floor balcony. What am I supposed to do now?! #tomato #balconygarden #gardentok #gardening #containergarden
Get and arch trellis. I got a ton of them off tik tok for like $17 each

They’re in the shade and are getting tall and leggy bc they’re reaching for the sun. Put them in the sun.

They’re very skinny. Are they being grown just in this shaded spot? I think putting them outside in direct light may help. They grow tall and skinny when they’re searching for light. Outside would also be better as the wind stimulates them to get even thicker.

Apply a fertilizer that’s light in nitrogen and high in potassium and phosphorus- potassium is fruit setting and phosphorus helps flowering, you have a lot of real estate on those plants with very little fruit

If you train them to go sideways over an arch trellis and they’ll get a lot more sun and you’ll have more tomatoes

cut the tops when they get too tall. it will make the plant focus the energy into the off shoots and be bushier. they are indeterminate so you will still get lots of tomatoes

Put them in the sun. That’s why they are growing so tall. They want that sun

As someone who grows over 60+ 🍅 plants every year.... Your plants look amazing. Height, leave colors, no leaves on the bottom by stem. The only problem i can see is not enough flowers should have a ton. It needs way more sunlight. 8+ hours a day. Especially when they start producing to get them red. And as for how tall they are let them crawl along as they are.

You have indeterminate plants. Use an arch trellis.

If they were in full sun they wouldn't be so leggy! They are literally reaching for the light.

I haven’t tried this, but it’s what has popped into my head. If you’re able to get some type of sturdy hooks or an anchor hook and some rope (Poly rope from Bunnings) and make like a clothes line from one end of the balcony to the other and keep training it around the line or use ties
