@lee_theocdtherapist: You cannot beat OCD by fighting it. You beat it by starving it. Every time you argue with an intrusive thought, check your feelings, seek reassurance, analyze what it means, or try to find certainty, you’re feeding the very cycle that’s keeping you stuck. Recovery begins the moment you stop feeding OCD and start starving it instead. I offer everyone a free 30-minute consultation. During this consultation, I’ll learn about your story, teach you how OCD really works, and show you exactly how to break this cycle for good using ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), the most effective form of treatment for OCD. If you’d like to work with me moving forward, amazing. If not, you’ll still leave our meeting with helpful guidance, practical tools, and a much clearer understanding of what’s actually keeping you stuck. Please DM me “CONSULT” or visit OCDtherapist.org, or email [email protected] to get started. . . . . . #ocd #ocdproblems #intrusivethoughts #ocdtherapy #ocdrecovery

What if you get a thought and you get OCD related episodes try to ignore it like everyone says, but just keeps thinking about it for the rest of the days you continue doing it and making your head hurt till you answer

Uncertainty is the only certainty, even if it's scary.

How do you combat obsessing over the obsession? I try to ignore the thoughts and compulsions in hope to get rid of it, but I’m hyper aware of the OCDs existence and the fact it hasn’t gone away. I get constant reminders I still have it, wake up with dread when I realise it’s still there etc. And everyday when I realise it’s still there It messes up my nervous system and makes me physically unwell.

I was 21 when I learned what REAL ocd was, since then I’ve been through pretty much every theme you could think of, I’m now 24 and I still struggle every so often by getting stuck in this pattern your talking about, it’s exhausting.
