I feel this way about littering. In the last couple years, I’ve watched people throw trash out of their car window onto the street and every time it stuns me so deeply. It would never even occur to me that that was an option?

As a plumber. I have dug countless # of tampons & baby wipes from clogged drains.. don’t do it. Maybe in a commercial bathroom that you don’t care if it clogs up.

I remember when I was young my best friend’s dad taught us not to flush them down the toilet, but that’s all I’ve ever known but because it can cause like plugs in the system.

You’re absolutely not supposed to flush tampons, though. They are designed to absorb fluid and expand. Flushing them can cause plumbing clogs, sewage backups, and damage to septic systems. They also don’t break down like toilet roll, so if they clog up a pipe, it won’t wear down over time and dislodge itself, it’ll just be stuck in the pipes.
