الآية هي من سورة يونس، الآية 12، ومعناها باختصار عندما يصيب الإنسان مرض أو ضيق أو مصيبة فإنه يدعو الله بإلحاح في كل حال؛ وهو نائم على جنبه، أو جالس، أو قائم، يطلب من الله أن يزيل عنه البلاء. لكن عندما يرفع الله عنه الضر، يعود كثير من الناس إلى غفلتهم وكأنهم لم يدعوا الله ولم يحتاجوا إليه من قبل. ثم يبين الله أن المسرفين في المعاصي زين لهم ما كانوا يفعلون، فاستمروا عليه. العبرة من الآية : الإنسان قد يتذكر الله وقت الشدة، وينساه وقت الرخاء المؤمن الصادق يذكر الله في السراء والضراء وليس عند الحاجة فقط.
