To be fair… if you buy a whole giant army at once, yes it’s expensive. However I have been collecting now again for the past 8 years and I have 3 2000+ point armies AND a 6000 point army. I spend roughly $250 a YEAR on the hobby. That is fuck all.

If you want to get into and you genuinely think you’re going to love the painting and playing invest in a good combat patrol there’s a whole game around combat patrol so you won’t need to buy other minis till you decide on if it’s worth it or not

The person making the purchase makes it expensive. If you're limited on free time to paint, a $60 squad of 10 figures can be stretched out over a few weeks. You also don't need every shade of every color, and most of those gadgets and tools GWS or AP put out are unnecessary.

Now, trust me, before I say anything, I have also fallen victim to the whole "complain about the price" situation. But it's actually kinda reasonable as to why they make it so expensive. Games Workshop is a massive company, being basically the top dog for tabletop gaming for over 40+ years. And because they've been around for so long, Games Workshop has attracted a LOT of people, especially around 2020-2021. Games Workshop has to make it so expensive because of the sheer number of people who are into this hobby from all across the world. Think about it, if Games Workshop made their kits cheap, a lot of stuff would sell out, and it would make it expensive for Games Workshop in return to try and make so many kits to keep up.
