That was your story?! Watching Bailey’s portrayal of the story didn’t make me feel any negative towards the stylist even before I knew it was yours.

I get not knowing what to do in that situation absolutely! And im not trying to make you feel like a bad person but getting irritated by a stranger not addressing THEIR breakdown is completely a you problem. Feelings are weird. Sometimes they build and build and burst out at the most random moments and they don’t care how old you are or how emotionally mature you „should“ be. I doubt it was „just“ the bullying too. Pretending like nothing happened is a pretty common response especially when the person feels embarrassed. Im not an outwardly emotional person either and my own anxiety moments are more shutdown/quiet too BUT for some people they’re loud and messy and thats okay! I just felt like the way you talked about her in the og video was insensitive because you used words like „pissed“ and „stupid“ just because you felt some type of way about how she handled herself. But im also aware that im going off of retellings of a situation that happened to you. Since I never met this lady or saw just how hard and suddenly she cried so idk, maybe im projecting my own stuff into it a little too. Im sure you’re a lovely person and stylist so again, not trying to make you feel bad just trying to encourage empathy even when we don’t understand the person at first

i get what you’re saying and she could’ve said something but it sounds like she was embarrassed and just wanted to pretend it didn’t happen, also how would she know that you were scared to talk to her if you hadn’t said that? also the ladies bullying her could’ve just been either 1) the last straw from a buildup of things or 2) a lie because she didn’t wanna share what was actually going on. i agree with you that it’s weird and i really do understand you being annoyed but i think we all don’t act how we want to when we’re emotional and embarrassed

I am trying to understand where you're coming from but I don't. Annoyed or irritated or angry wouldn't have been my first feeling but we all are entitled to our own feelings and who really are any of us to tell you how a situation should or shouldn't make you feel. I respect you for even coming on here and explaining further. No shade or hate btw you seem super cool!

my husband and i were having a rough time in our marriage. my mom was dying, he didn't know how to support me, I was working like a crazy person, at the hospital, not sleeping, being a mom...just a mess.
I walked into little caesars to pick up a doordash and broke. the girl behind the counter was like "are you okay? you're not okay" and rushed around the counter and hugged me for a solid minute while I wept into her shoulder. I apologized so much and said "life has been a lot lately" she was like "no explanation needed" I bought a gift card to dunkin and went back to give it to her but never ran into that counter worker again. it was like she was an angel that just worked that afternoon. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I dont think wanting someone(not necessarily her, but someone-your boss) to fill you in so you knew what topics to avoid is too much to ask for. You spent the rest of that appointment uncomfortable and unsure of what to even be cautious of specifically. Had your boss just atleast HALFWAY filled you in, you probably would have been in a much better place and been able to handle it better and not been annoyed at all.

That whole situation is very uncomfortable. I don’t blame you for being annoyed

I thought perhaps a miscarriage, when I suffered an early one last year I would find myself just randomly bursting into tears. Now I hate crying in front of people so I would run to my car where I could cry and then come back in clean. but that's me I am not a public cryer.

Annoyance is also a feeling. You have just as much of a right to your feelings as she did. I'm annoyed on your behalf but more at your boss than her. He should have reassured you that you did nothing wrong and relayed what the lady told him. I'm thinking the lady didn't address it with you because she assumed your boss had already filled you in on what was going on.

i find this interesting because what I'm getting from this is that you're just not naturally an empathetic person? which is fine... I think, I'm not sure actually I haven't really been around anyone who wouldn't actively try help if someone started crying out of nowhere. this is just wild to me I'm not mad or upset it kinda just baffles me as someone who grew up w highly empathetic people around 24 7 💕

Legit I saw your first video and that was not my takeaway. Mine was you were annoyed by the lack of communication. As someone who is socially awkward and doesn’t know how to handle emotions that well I would have been annoyed too because the anxiety would have been high.

I didn’t get the vibe you were annoyed… it just seemed like someone was freaking out and you had no idea what to do

It kinda makes me wonder if she was possibly going through peri-menopause or something. That can make you have really big feelings then flip a switch back (hormones suck right?!) I kinda feel it was a situation that was no win for anyone… your boss though really should have given you more information about what was going on, especially because you were newer to the industry. I think he’s the one that should have known how to guide you through it.

Your boss is definitely at fault. He should have shared the info he had, prior to you going back out. There was no point telling you after you’d been in the awkward position of doing her hair; while being unable to interact normally with her because you had no idea what had caused her to be upset. The fact you were able to get through the consultation and give her lovely results in such an awkward situation shows the excellent skills you have. So be proud of how well you did on the day 💜

Honestly, as someone who worked in the beauty industry people that have NEVER worked in these industries have NO CLUE how much we have to be emotionally aware and sensitive to people we are working on. When we “joke” we are therapist in our jobs we really actually mean it. The job is more than just a haircut, massage, facial so on. It’s a very vulnerable experience for most people (most of them don’t even realize how much it impacts them in the moment until after) so having a NEW person stepping into that is BEYOND difficult if you are not trained for it or experience it often (which we do as we get even more experience outside of school) it’s HEAVY. I was a very empathetic person so I knew walking out of school how to handle these types of situations(because of my own life experiences) but I WISH schools would teach everyone how to handle these types of scenarios because it’s SCARY and can be very OVERWHELMING, you become afraid you will say something wrong and we truly never ever want to do that. The woman should have said something to you, that’s not right on her part.

I bet she did that to attempt to try and get your boss to do her hair. It seemed to come right after you said you were a new stylist ( based on the skit)

The stylist has every right to feel overwhelmed, annoyed etc. It seems like she was respectful of the situation. If she hadn’t, then id say yeah stylist is the wrong. She’s j sharing her opinion

Just a musing re you mentioning her not mentioning it - it sounds like you sort of froze in the moment and hid as opposed to checking in with her and asking if she was okay, so she probably kept quiet because she could see that she impacted you and she didn’t want to make it worse. Y’all were sitting there not communicating about it hoping to protect each other and it just made it worse! Totally human on both sides
