If someone thinks the point is to “take the $1,000 and run at 18,” they missed the entire lesson. At a 7% average return, $1,000 could be about $3,380 by 18, but roughly $81,000 by 65 if left alone. Add only $20 a month and you’re talking about roughly $12,000 by 18 or over $410,000 by retirement. This is not about free money, it’s about teaching ownership, patience, and compounding early.

With Trump’s history of bankruptcy and making bad deals, I would not invest.

Here you guys go. According to the app, they default it to if “you” contribute $50/month until age 18, they’d have over $19K.

The account converts into a traditional IRA at 18 years old so how is the growth tax free? To roll over into a Roth IRA they would need to pay taxes. What are they talking about?

I wouldn’t touch anything that Trump was financially associated with but after listening to a lot of experts, there is a lot of room for improvement with this program because there are some very big pitfalls

The moment my children were born I started off with $25 a month in an investment account for them. I eventually increased it to $100 a month. My son is 28 and my daughter is 39. Both of them have their own homes which are paid for and they both have portfolios.

Yeah, on the surface it sounds like a great deal — until you follow the money. If 6 million kids get accounts and just 1 million families max out contributions every year, that could create a pool approaching $200 billion over 18 years (depending on market returns). Even a tiny management fee — around 0.03% — could mean investment companies collecting roughly $500–700 million total over that time. The $1,000 isn’t just free money sitting in an account — it creates a massive flow of money into investment products managed by major financial companies. The real question is: who benefits the most in the long run — the kids building wealth, or the companies collecting fees on billions of dollars?
