The prison is right on the edge of the mandatory evacuation zone. It’s facts I was in Colorado State Penitentiary back in like 2013 or 2014 & there was a big fire in the area & they locked down & staff evacuated & we were just there

I reached out to the Bureau of Prisons today asking about the status of inmates at FCC Florence as the Aspen Acres Fire burns nearby. They confirmed the complex is sheltering in place and said the posture “prioritizes safety while ensuring officials remain prepared to act should conditions change.” ADX Florence has never been evacuated for a wildfire in its history. The Bureau of Prisons wouldn’t tell me anything more about their plans if an evacuation were to become necessary.

These structures are type 1 structures. Non-combustible. They are perfectly safe.

Not everyone at the prison is an inmate.... guards, admim, medical staff are the ones who have to shelter in place.
