I don’t think people know just how goated Joan of Arc really was, for the past 92 years of the 100 years war (more accurately 116 years) France was basically on a losing streak, they did well during the Caroline phase of the war but a few years later during the Lancastrian phase, France was essentially on the verge of surrender. Until a certain illiterate peasant not even a legal adult by today’s standards started hearing the voice of the archangel Micheal telling her to save France. Fueled by divine command, she liberated the city of Orleans from a brutal 7 month long English siege after a mere 9 days of her beginning military career, and later she escorted the future king to the city of Reims, his crowning gave the French a clear, legitimate leader to rally behind. She also won 4 more major battles that not only weakened the English but also gave France a winning shot after Nearly a century of straight L’s, single-handedly carrying France for 2 years before being captured and executed, but even after her death, the French never lost the momentum she gave them and that eventually led to them winning the war. One of the best saints of all time for sure.
