There are still some very basic issues that are not dealt with and we are moving backwards because we are trying to tackle too many things all at once. I believe the initial purpose of this was that feminism cannot be inclusive to all women without considering all these things (i.e. feminism cannot exist in a vacuum without considering race, sexuality, class, environment etc). If we don’t consider these things then what happens to women of colour disproportionately impacted by the patriarchy/misogyny? Or women disproportionately impacted by environmental factors? I think unfortunately in practice sometimes these things get hijacked but I don’t think they can be fully separated from each other

Feminism boiled down is the fight against patriarchy. Wanting things cleanly separated as distinct issues is the way patriarchy has kept people too unorganised for progress. The expansion of feminism is in response to acknowledgment of the expanse of patriarchal oppression.

I really get your point, at the same time my view is that feminism often is an umbrella for other causes because all the “-isms” are connected, we’re all oppressed by the same system. For me, fighting for women’s rights goes hand in hand with indigenous rights, with fighting for the climate, with anticapitalism, with all the other oppressive movements. Even though we’re fighting different kinds of oppression, we can all fight together because in the end, we’re fighting the same oppressive system. Like Marsha P Johnson said: “no pride for some of us without liberation for all of us!” None of us are free until all of us are free :)

Ich verstehe grundsätzlich total deinen punkt. Ich persönlich bin aber z.B ein großer fan vom intersektionalen feminismus, weil er beleuchtet dass patriachale strukturen nicht auf jeden gleich wirken, und das glaube ich wichtig ist, um wirklich für jede frau eine größtmögliche befreiung erziehlen zu können. Ich frage mich ob ein reines betrachten von „Frauenthemen“ reicht, um wirklich umfassend sinnvoll das Leben von Frauen zu verbessern.

I understand intersectional feminism, but sometimes I think feminism should more focus on women rather than other issues. I don't hate them and I think it's important too. I just think feminism is way more broad than its purpose.

Yes I agree! I’m curious why you think eco feminism detracts from feminism as I strongly veer to that. But simply because it teaches us that we are nature and so when we see our bodies not as resources for capitalism, or objects under patriarchy but as natural features of the world, we are able to care for ourselves with healthy foods and environments. We also make better systems for ourself that help with educating us on our bodies through motherhood, postpartum and child rearing care with an emphasis on our nervous system. I agree with you but I see eco feminism as situating the body as a place where we can empower ourselves through education, and care, and that helps us see all the ways we are being extracted in other exploitative systems. I’d love to know what you think
