Exactly. Deme (city), is the smallest bastion of civilization. The Greeks created a ton of pantheon dedicated to the existence of culture/society and what exists in a state of nature or chaos. Artemis being the goddess of liminality, a guide to get from the forest, armed conflict and even childbirth to civil society and the public square. Santorini has Artemesian ruins and my guess is living on an active volcano probably inspired people to pray to her for stability amidst chaos. I wonder if I pray hard enough she will guide the opposition towards victory.

People have rights to organize themselves into nation states. For example, the Palestinian people should have the right to organize a nation state. This is an absurd, tortured, and ultimately counterproductive argument.
