Genocide is and will always be wrong, I don’t care if Eren had “no other choice.” He was just a reckless man who happened to hold extreme amounts of power, using them in a reckless way. I’m not saying Zeke’s plan is also good, but compared to the rumbling? I’d rather people see die peacefully by euthanasia rather than see 80% of the world be brutally stomped and trampled by wall titans. Though Marley constantly oppressed Paradis, Genocide was NOT the only option. We have to remember Eren had also the ability to launch a smaller-scale rumbling against Marley, who would’ve given Paradis a 100 years of peace. After the rumbling came to a stop and a 100 years passed, the cycle of hatred and war continued again. Even after committing a whole genocide against the world, even after killing all of your enemies, you can’t fully escape the cycle of hatred. And I stand by my point, Eren shouldn’t have killed 80% of humanity. He just made all of his friends including Mikasa live a miserable life, full of pain, anguish, and regrets. His genocide didn’t achieve nothing but a fake sense of peace for 100 years. I believe the people who think Eren was right, didn’t fully understand AoT.

Everyone saying that this was “his only choice” would maybe hold up better if he was actually doing this for his people. Eren could have just dismantled the army that was set out on ships to attack them, to allow to this stay a government affair, but instead he trampled the world and cost the lives of millions of innocent lives because he simply wanted the world to be flattened. If they got that hagamoto to be on their side to help them, who’s to say they couldn’t unite a coalition to go against Marley, the same coalition that just lost a war to Marley. I never understood the righteous “what he is doing is wrong!” Argument from the fans side. Genocide is absolutely horrible, but in this world Eren was faced with 2 options. Be genocided or do the genocide. Any “peaceful” option, isn’t peace, the Marelyns were already actively committing genocides against the Island for decades (the titans), and then when it came down to them discovering Paradis had rich resources on its island they were aiming to kill everyone there and take it. Either or, if you choose any plan other than genocide. It is guaranteed, that you will either be “ethnically cleansed” (Zekes plan) IF the Marelyns and the world (yes not even the world likes the island.) don’t kill you by then. You scare them? You don’t think that large threat would get countries together to take you down? Wars was literally introduced for a reason this seasons, weapons outside of the islands arsenal were titan defense advanced. Eren literally had no other choices, die or kill. I don’t think this should be compared to the real horrific ONE -SIDED genocides happening today.
