yeah i still can’t believe im going to hell. i don’t want to, but even if i did try to be a christian. i feel like on judgement day, he would say i didn’t adore him with a truthful heart. it’s just sad. truly. i wished things were different. i don’t want to be torture by demons. all i wanted was to live a happy life here on earth. have friends, eat amazing food haha, listen and dance to music, have my family together, go to the beach without feeling guilty of not being a christian. I wish trying to be a good person is the religion. instead, of giving up things you love.

From what l understood and was taught, basically we were given free will because if God revoke our choice to truly love him then it wouldn’t be love at all, because love is a choice. Hell is a state of our soul that is separated from God’s presence, since God is love being away from Him is being separated from love and kindness, etc. So, if someone decides to not want to spend their lives with Him on earth then why would God force you to spend afterlife with Him when they didn’t really want to. Respectfully sharing what I was taught, I don’t condemn anyone who doesn’t because as I already said, I can’t make anyone love Him, it’s their choice. 🤍 (and I’m open to be corrected if mistaken in any concept)

You cannot force someone to love you. In the same way He doesn’t force you to love Him. And even if you don’t He still cares for you. Sometimes free will means unrequited love. It’s a heartbreaking trope, but sometimes having a healthy relationship with yourself and Jesus is better than the expectations and standards that comes with religion. It’s okay to go along your path of self discovery. Sometimes you have to get lost to be found. Jesus will always be waiting for you and rooting for you. 🤍🪷 Love and light 💞

Perhaps an idea is a father and son living at home. The father knows if the son moves out, the son is going to struggle on his own. The child won’t be able to support themselves on their own. But, if the child chooses to stay with the father, they will be taken care of and loved. The father however lets the child choose to stay or not because he never wants to force the child’s hand. The father knows the dangers of the outside world, but the child doesn’t, as the child hasn’t experienced it. The father tries to warn the child because the father knows what the child doesn’t know. The father would like to child to stay home and be safe, but again, he never forces it, so it’s up to the child to stay or not. Hope this was a good analogy

hi!! as someone who is deconstructing christianity right now, id like to put in my two cents thqt you might not have seen in the comment section. the concept of hell as we know it (eternal torture and damnation) was not introduced until rhe romans had a hold on christianity and used it to control a mass amount of people. the catholic church describes hell as simply a “separation” from god, which can mean a multitude of things. many believe that god being perfectly just, and hell existing at the same time are contradictory. there are also multiple christian theology books questioning the existence of hell. personally, i believe that all souls on this planet will return to god at some point!

as a follower of Christ, both heaven and hell are states of consciousness, just like how nirvana would be, they arent some seperate place outside of the universe. and from following Christ and reading the word of the bible, i believe that hell isn’t eternal burning in darkness like i was taught. i simply believe its just a state of consciousness separated from God. there, simple, and im not asking for anyone to agree with me, but if you feel compelled to, feel free.

I think God could’ve definitely thought it out a bit more. I feel like an All loving God wouldn’t send someone to hell for simply rejecting him when he already knew this. He should be fine with people accepting AND rejecting him, not leaving the people who rejected him with fear. That’s not love to me, personally.

well the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Adam and Eve were the ideal humans. we were not supposed to have death but they chose it. this also goes for how we love people. we sometimes choose to say hurtful things and do petty stuff which hurts the other. God wants to save us from that kind of behavior because it only hurts other people, makes them lose your trust, and makes you feel less complete. you are whole when you follow God and He wants you but you choose if you will let that broken heart posture dictate your eternity

As a believer of god myself this issue has really confused me.It bugs me how an all loving God sends people to hell for not following him. This is not a great example, but I feel like it’s saying even if a person has followed a morally good life, such as tending the sick and the need. Or even being kind and a good person. Unless they believe in God the person doesn’t get to go to heaven. How is that fair? Thank you for sharing your opinion! It’s nice to see another people, from this post to the comments, that agree with this. Because I honestly felt bad for thinking this way. So reading people’s comments here in a way is comforting.

i personally see free will as more of a test and teacher. your teacher gives you the resources to learn the material and gives you a couple weeks to study (which obviously you get more like a few years in real life but yk). she keeps telling you this big test is coming at the end of the lesson. she can spend weeks teaching you and telling you to study but ultimately the choice is yours whether you pass or fail. love in any form doesn’t come without effort and it’s not different with him but it also doesn’t come without its rewards.

As a wholehearted believer in Jesus Christ as Lord, I struggle with this exact same issue and i actually don’t have an answer to your question - the analogy feels spot on and the typical Christian explanations make no sense. The way I reason with it is to simply accept that God’s infinite knowledge and wisdom and foresight is greater than mine, and that in his mind this all makes sense, which is all that matters. I’m nothing compared to him, and so obviously certain things just won’t make sense to me. I just trust that they make sense to him and that he’s infinitely good, and that it somehow all works out and couldn’t be done any better way. Cheers

i’ve been questioning christianity for like 4 years now. it’s hard to even call myself a christian anymore. i’m so lost; i don’t what or who to believe in anymore. i find so many faults with different religions too. i’ve known christianity all my life, but now i can’t help but wonder if it knows me.
