@drsarahballantyne: Replying to @wait.what017 Let’s take a look at the nutrients in this month of meals for under $100! And, let me just say WOW! Technical notes for ultra nutrient nerds: Nutrition facts are for one day, so one thirtieth of the full grocery cart. I added soybean and olive oil (2 tsp each per day) to my analysis because the creator is using some pantry items to cook with, but I didn’t include spices, vinegar or any other foods like lentils (which I’ve seen in the meals posted so far). So for example, I assume enough salt would be added to each meal to bring the sodium intake up into a healthy range. Spices would also increase the average Nutrivore Score. And, I think pantry items are likely bringing up most of the nutrients that aren’t quite at the DV in my analysis. I especially want to highlight that while we’re not quite at 100% DV for every nutrient, these intakes are waaaaaaay higher than most people’s. Plus, the creator only spent $92 on groceries, so any leftover budget could be used for pantry staples if needed, or if you have a few extra bucks, adding dried soybeans could help bring up the calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and fiber. (And if you can’t add any additional items to your cart, don’t worry, this is a very nutritious meal plan as is.) Also, there’s so much nutrient density here that a sweet treat could also fit into this very healthy meal plan! @Poor For Dummies #nutrivore #budgetmeals #cheapmeals

Question: When scoring for % of RDA for iron, do you use RDA of 8 mg (for men) or 18 mg (for pre-menopausal women)? Or do you split the difference and go 13 mg? 🤔

So glad I found your channel. I don't have to try and find a good recipe. You do it for us. What you did in this video is what I'm missing in the other videos. You let us know where things can be improved. Maybe because it is not someone's recipe? Would you consider makebe adding a comment about the cholesterol and sodium.
Thank you for educating me.

Isn’t that only like 1300-1400 calories/day? I guess that might be enough for some folks, but others of us that would be unhealthy, right?

I wouldn’t buy it all at once, since I want my veggies fresh every week. The number one thing he’s buying is ingredients. Not prepared/processed trash.
