I remember when I was younger, my parents somehow got ahold of a physical PC copy of Team Fortress 2. I have never seen anyone else mention this before lol

you missed one point with what he said. "for not supporting physical media" plug an external drive in, boom supports physical media. in fact supports other consoles physical media too depending on the emulator

Disks are nothing but emotional relics. Your game that requires an SSD to function isnt using the disc for anything other than permission to play and maybe some install files.

Might i add
1. You can also just use any cheap CD drive and use it with your pc, even if it doesn't come with it
2. You can technically just put any drm free game on a disk if you'd like and play it that way.

PC stopped getting physical releases because people werent buying them.
.
Consoles are gonna stop getting physical releases because they are not as beneficial for Sony and Microsoft.
.
That is the difference.

They don't get criticism because there's no real way to forcibly remove games from your SSD, you have to delete them manually even if they're delisted.

I trust Steam more than Sony and Xbox when it comes to game ownership. With everything that Sony has been announcing is very worrisome in the direction they're heading.

pc gamers DID push back when they started getting rid of disks btw. there just wasnt as large a market to push back on it. and pcs are much easier to be able to retain your games because storage sizes can go wildly higher than a console
