i think meta glasses are good for very specific things. i do not think people should be going around recording others without their consent that’s werid asf and just wrong, but the other day I had a blind man come into where i worked and the meta glasses have been transformative for him and other people who are blind. it was so much easier for him to get around the glasses were able to tell him everything that was in his surroundings, describe what ppl and items look like. it would read stuff out for him it was great and made his life significantly easier. he was such a sweet person 😭

i wish that they didn’t look like NORMAL glasses— like, i wish their design looked slightly absurd and screamed “these are on my face to record!!!!” so they couldnt possibly be mistaken for regular glasses

“Non consensual recording” as if everyone doesn’t have phones out recording already. Never mind the hundreds of cctv cameras all over the place recording everyone already. There is no expectation of privacy in public, and never has been.

i think they're neat piece of tech but id like alot more privacy standards like someone connecting to blur anyone whose not in your friends lists. or making recording alot more obvious. also I would only ever use them for like behind the scenes stuff for photography but otherwise they're just gross

I like the general idea of hands free recording. It's convenient and discreet. I imagined people could get really nice candid shots. Instead everyone just decided to be creepy 🙄

Meta glasses have a light that comes on when using the camera so you can’t record secretly, as well they have become a really important tool that visually impaired ppl use with the ai and camera in them! Not saying they’re 100% a good thing but they’re definitely not 100% bad

They have a blinking white LED on the front when recording. It's not exactly discreet.

I had video recording sunglasses back in 2010 that looked way cooler. Also had built in earpods and an MP3 player. I miss them

Hey just so you know like 90% of the meta videos you see are filmed in public which means you do not have to consent to be filmed in public as you have no expectation of privacy in public :)

The thing is there is no right to privacy in public. However I would say that only actually extends to streets / sidewalks / parks, and businesses. Also there are states like Pennsylvania where recording in private is a two party consent. So recording someone without their knowledge in a home or business is a private setting.

Honestly I don't care all that much. People already whip out their phones to record everything and you can't go anywhere in public without a security camera or doorbell camera recording you.
