Since when is it normal to leave a rental with damage without having it fixed before you leave? I’ve worked in property management and if there are damages that need to be repaired, the relayed cost is not just materials. It is time, labor, skill, materials, and potentially lost re-rental income, all of which have cost variables that you forfeit control over when you choose to leave it to someone else to deal with.

Has it been more than 30 days since your lease ended? Not sure about all states but mine requires they notify you through the mail postmarked within 30 days. If they don’t you don’t owe them anything.
