Just got fired for this. Literally verbatim in my interview and leading up to the change I implemented that my predecessor refused to do. Then out of nowhere, "people are complaining", "you need to slow down", etc. They wanted to benefit from the change, just not actually have to put in the work to affect it.

Ironically, after I left (retired early), I learned that my name kept being mentioned on conf calls…saying this wouldn’t be an issue if I was still there….this crisis would’ve been resolved faster if I was still there.

This happened to me! The engineers were gate keeping all of the knowledge and they had no documentation so I came up with a plan to fix everything and was meant with resistance and denial. I just don’t understand why they even bothered. I went through 10 interviews to get in there.

And so we…. Quit? Suffer through? What’s the advice? I keep moving to bigger companies every few years, surrounded by smart people, only to find this “Intimidated Leadership” problem is worse and worse.

I got brought in specifically to change a workgroup’s dynamic and lack of motivation and slumping metrics. Came in, held people accountable. Documented everything. Starting coaching, write ups and finally PIPs for those who wouldn’t get on board with the change in expectations. Got calling in to HR by upper management and told I was writing too many corrective action plans and “well these people have been with the company a long time… etc”. 🙄 Yeah, that’s the problem! They are set in their ways not not willing to change or push to get new goals met! Thats supposedly the ENTIRE reason I was hired was as a “change” agent! Found out 6 months in, management actually was more concerned with harmony than actual change. Not sure what they expected? Or HOW you push change in a dug in organization with pissing a few people off? 🤷♂️🤦♂️. Hope they found some magical solution, because I noped myself right out of there.
